Break Out Of Your Lipstick Rut!

[As published on Emmagem.com HERE]

When was the last time you changed your lipstick colour? Just like that old T-shirt with the frayed hem and misshapen collar that you know you should trash but can’t stop wearing, it’s normal to find yourself going back to your comfort zone when it comes to your favourite lip colour.
Emmagem shows you how to inject a new lease of life into your lipstick choice, so you won’t be stuck wearing the same shade for the next ten years to come:
If you’re always wearing red…
Case in point: Kelly Osbourne
Even during her pre-svelte days, Kelly has always been an avid fan of striking, in-your-face colours. She’s a big fan of reds, albeit sometimes a tad too garish (which makes her look older than she really is – she’s 28). The bright colour also makes her face appear rounder.
 Try violet or fuchsia instead!
Change for the better: Red lipstick makes you look much older, especially if worn during the day. Choose fashionable hues like fuchsia, violet or even lavender for a more modern, youthful take on the statement lip.
Emmagem recommends:
(L-R): Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Lilac Rose, RM85, Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Muse, RM36, Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in Disco, RM95

If you’re always wearing colourless balm (or nothing at all)…
Case in point: Kirsten Stewart
K-Stew really does make it a point to not wear lipstick whenever possible, choosing to pile on the eye makeup instead. However, it makes her look like she died and came back to life, for lack of a better description.  She looks tired, washed out and pale.
 Try tinted lipbalm instead!
Change for the better: With a tiny bit of colour on your lips, you’ll look more energized and healthier, even without strong eye makeup. Make the switch from bare-lipped to tinted lipbalm – your lips will thank you, and you don’t look too made-up either!
Emmagem recommends:
(L-R): Fresh Sugar Coral Lip Treatment, Sephora, Korres Quince Lip Butter, RM45, Luxola, Dior Lip Glow, RM95

If you’re always wearing bubblegum pink…
Case in point: Katy Perry
Katy Perry and her trademark bubblegum-pink lipstick go together like ice-cream and chocolate sprinkles. But sometimes, it tends to make her look a tad too cartoonish. And when you look like a cartoon, it’s hard to be taken seriously.
Try coral or tangerine instead!
Change for the better: Of course we’re not asking you to completely ditch your trademark shade, but now and then it’s fun to use a different colour. Try a peachy or coral-toned hue, which will flatter your tan and make you look more grown-up. Trรจs chic!
Emmagem recommends:
(L-R): Covo Cosmetics Moist Madness Lipstick in Coral Red, RM45, Yadah Lovely Lip Gloss in Tropical Orange, RM19, Sleek Makeup True Colour Lipstick in Peaches and Cream, RM40
