Meow-Inspired Manicure

[As published on Emmagem.com HERE]
I’m not exactly a cat person, but there’s something about cats that make them so memorable. Maybe it’s because of their ‘I-live-as-I-wish’ attitude, or their ‘everyone is beneath me’ personality that got me into this love-hate relationship with our furry, purring friends.
This week’s manicure tutorial is dedicated to all animal lovers! Simply because we can never get tired of our pets’ antics, even though sometimes they make us want to tear our hair out in exasperation. But their love makes up for everything, even a spoiled couch or a torn cushion, don’t you think? :)
Here’s what you need:
Left to Right: The Nail Parlour Enrich Base Coat, Bobbi Brown Shimmer Nail Polish in Twilight, Chanel Le Vernis in Frenzy, Sephora Nail Lacquer in Oh My Cherie, White and Black nail art pens from Daiso, an old ballpoint pen.
(Note: You can use any cat-coloured shade, even brown, orange or black.)
Now on to the serious stuff!
Step 1: Clean nails with nail polish remover and apply base coat. Allow to dry.

Step 2: Paint a stripe down the center of your nail.
Step 3: Using the side of the brush, paint another smaller stripe on one side.
Step 4: Repeat on the other side. You don’t have to be too precise.
Tip: Repeat steps 2 to 4 to give your ‘cats’ a darker, more even colour.
Now they look like this!

Step 5: When the nail polish is almost dry, draw on eyes with the white nail art pen.

Step 6: Use the black nail art pen to draw on the mouth.
Step 7: Complete your ‘cats’ by painting on their eyes. This will give them different expressions.

Step 8: Using an old ballpoint pen, you can dot on a paw print, or make a polka dot pattern.

Bonus: If you’ve got a steady hand, give your cats more character with some whiskers!
