Hot Celebrity Bodies We'd Totally Kill To Have

Being constantly under the spotlight and scrutinised under a microscope is part and parcel of being a celebrity. People are vicious creatures sometimes – they secretly want to see you fail miserably and spectacularly; or force unwanted advice upon you even though they don’t know you personally. Like it or not, celebrities have come to bear the brunt of the ugly side of netizens. Some who can’t take it crumble (like Justin Bieber, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears during her head-shaving days).
Female celebrities get it harder, I reckon. Any tiny trace of weight gain will be snapped up by the paparazzi like hungry dogs and pinpointed to no end. It’s not easy being a woman (what more a happy one) when body image is so wrongly portrayed in Hollywood.
For us mere mortals, we try to practice a healthier lifestyle by working out and eating clean. Here are Emmagem’s favourite Tinseltown bodies to inspire you to do more for yourself. If they can do it, you can too.

Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera has been in the showbiz industry for more than 15 years now, since her debut with Genie in a Bottle in 1999. Since then, her weight has fluctuated from borderline anorexic to pushing 67 kg. Which for her height of 1.57m, is a lot of extra weight. However, she started losing the pounds shortly after joining The Voice as a judge, and we’re liking what we’re seeing so far. Earlier this year, she stepped out with a whole-new svelte body after losing a whopping 49 pounds (22kg)! According toStyle List, she did it by avoiding empty calories like alcohol and opting for lean meat.
Notable moment: The Voice performance with Lady Gaga on December 17, 2013. Dressed in a sparkly gold tight-fitting dress, Xtina has never looked better.

Miley Cyrus

At a tender age of 21, for former Hannah Montana star has certainly received a lot of backlash for her risqué image and devil-may-care attitude. However there’s no denying that despite all the drama, Miley Cyrus is a young woman who has her head screwed on tight. She knows what she wants, and she’s not afraid to get it, even though it means she has to go the unconventional way. She’s certainly a far cry from a chubby, baby-fat Hannah Montana alter ego, but getting in shape isn’t a walk in the park. Miley’s pilates coach says it requires 30 minutes of crunches a day (!!!!) But hard work pays off, because we can’t help but agree that Miley has a perfectly-toned physique that still retains its femininity.
Notable moment: Yoga at the beach. Miley Cyrus’ beach yoga routine in January 2013 was what made the world stop in its tracks and realize that underneath the brash voice and loud character lies a strictly disciplined spirit.

Rita Ora

She’s not just a great singer; the blonde-haired exotic beauty has also been cast in the season’s most talked-about film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey as Christian Grey’s sister, Mia. But life hasn’t always been a bed of roses for Rita Ora. In an interview in Teen Vogue, she opened up about struggling with body image. “I matured more quickly than the other girls; I had bigger breasts and a bigger bum—and I hated it. I would get extra-tight leotards for my dance classes [to flatten my breasts] because I was really ashamed of my body.” But all of a sudden, one day she saw the light. . “At one point, I just woke up, like, ‘I love my boobs, I love my skin, I love myself. And I’m going to get a leotard that actually fits because I can’t breathe!’”she laughed.

It’s no secret that British singer Jessie J is a gym freak. And rightfully so, too, since she’s also a spokesperson for Nike.  According to Women’s Health Mag, Jessie J stays fit by doing bursts of high-intensity workouts like jumping jacks and kick-backs. She also runs regularly, and does a lot of squats and lunges. The ever-generous Jessie has also taken to Twitter to share her personal workout routine with her fans. It goes to show that even celebrities need to work hard. Getting fit requires a dedicated mindset, so you’ve got to work hard to see results.
Notable moment: Wild music video. While she struts around in different skimpy outfits, Jessie J gives you a 360-degree look at her toned figure.

Our favourite J-Law is an advocate of positive body image. When asked to lose weight for her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, she refused to do so. Her reason: she wanted to portray Katniss as a fit and strong teenager, not a thin and underfed one. We salute her for her outspokenness on this issue. She’s not shy to share her opinions, too. Memorable quotes include:
“In Hollywood, I’m obese. I’m considered a fat actress, I’m Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach.”
“I eat like a caveman. I’ll be the only actress that doesn’t have anorexia rumors.”

Named Esquire Magazine’s Sexiest Woman Alive in 2013 (and also in 2006), Scarlett Johansson reportedly did extensive martial arts training and went on a raw vegan diet for her role as Black Widow in The Avengers. However, she is quick to admit she still has her ‘fat’ days. “Every woman has body worries. I’m no exempt from that,” she says. But when she’s not training for a role, she works out for half an hour each day and eats lots of fruit, veggies and lean proteins. “No matter how busy my life may be, I feel better when I take a little time to focus on staying active,” she shares. Well said!

At 1.70m, Katy Perry towers over everyone else when compared to pint-sized celebrities like Lady Gaga (1.55m), Shakira (1.57m) and Demi Lovato (1.61m). In order to keep in tiptop shape, she consumes lots of supplements and vitamins. The alabaster-skinned beauty owes her trim shape to her healthy eating habits, preferring soups, grilled chicken, whole grains and quinoa. She also drinks fresh juices and coconut water. Fitness-wise, the popstar is said to prefer hiking, cycling and rope-skipping.

Remember, it’s not cool to look stick-thin, but it’s definitely liberating to look fit and toned. Don’t starve yourself silly, but balance out your lifestyle with regular exercise and healthy eating habits!
