Stain Yourself Silly: Stay-Put Colours For Your Lips

[As published on HERE]
Don’t you love how a different lip colour can give you a totally new look? Slick on a lip colour to match your mood of the day, and you’re out the front door with a spring in your step, ready to take on any challenges that come your way. Hey – if you don’t succeed in everything, at least you look good while trying, right?
But by the time lunch hour is almost over, your spirit of can-do zealousness has also faded into nothingness, just like your lipstick. It’s a drag when you have to make a pit stop at the ladies’ and reapply your lipstick so that it looks perfect yet again. And we know, when you’re stuffed full and feel so lethargic after lunch, that’s so not going to happen.
Unless there’s that super-cute guy sitting at the table next to you, and he seems to be alone so you can pretend to make eye contact and sneak in a smile (or two).
Well, you don’t have to risk having unevenly-applied lippie/flaky lips/bleeding lips or even visible lip liner, because with the new lip stains that are hitting the market, all you need is one coat in the morning, and you’re good for the rest of the day.
Be it dark vampish plum or bright happy pink, lip stains are so versatile, you can even mix up your own shade by combining a few colours. Best of all, its lightweight pigment leaves a barely-there veil on your lips without camouflaging their natural shape. Low-impact, high colour. What’s not to love about these goodies?

General rule of thumb: stains look best when they’re matte, not glossy. They’re supposed to look slightly translucent (even the darker shades). You should be able to see your natural lip lines through the colour.
How to:
If it comes with a wand/pencil tip, trace lips to form an outline. Fill in completely by brushing the colour onto lips. Blot with tissue for a subtle, barely-there effect.
If it comes in a tube, squeeze a tiny bit onto the back of your hand. Your body temperature warms the product slightly so it’s easier to spread. Pick up colour with your fingertip and dab onto lips until desired colour intensity.
Tip: To perk up a faded lip stain, slick a bit of clear lipbalm over it and voila – perfect pout version 2.0!
