Top 10 Facial Salons in KL (Part 1)

[As published on Emmagem.com HERE]
I love facials, but good salons aren’t easy to come by. I’ve been to my fair share of horror facials where the beautician pummels your face into oblivion or seems to take her stress out on your poor nose during extraction. And don’t get me started on places where I become the beautician’s agony aunt (despite meeting her for the first time) as she proceeds to tell me her life story.
All I want is some ‘me’ time where I can relax and doze off, and wake up to beautiful glowing skin. So, I’ve taken the liberty to round up some of the best places in KL to get a facial.
(all salons featured are in no particular order)

For a fruity facial treat: My Beauty Cottage, Solaris Mont Kiara

Step into any My Beauty Cottage salon, and you feel like you’re in an English cottage, complete with flowery couch and lace curtains. What we love about My Beauty Cottage is that they offer a wide selection of mouth-watering facials infused with the goodness of organic fruits, using Eminence Organic skincare from Hungary. Take your pick from Red Currant (rejuvenating), Apricot (hydrating), Blueberry (anti-ageing), Strawberry (brightening) and more. Sounds yummy!

For the aromatherapy lover: Decleor, Publika

Considering that the founders of Decleor consist of a beautician, a doctor, a shiatsu teacher, and an aromatherapist-cum-physiotherapist, it’s no wonder that the French brand is the world’s largest cosmetic aromatherapy brand. Decleor’s Aromatic Face Rituals as well as its signature Aromaplasty technique (a vitamin-infused mask for that extra lil boost) have even beauty editors raving about the relaxing facials that harness the power of essential oils to revive even the most lacklustre complexion. Look out for package deals that give you great value for money too.

For the quintessential Japanese touch: Kanebo International Salon, Starhill Gallery

Upon arrival, you’re served with tea as you soak your feet in a cosy area decorated with green bamboo. The no-frills salon is clean and quiet, with wooden floorboards and similar finishing, exactly what you would expect from a Japanese brand. If you’re new to Kanebo but want to try before you decide to commit, this is a great place to start getting acquainted with the products as it certainly beats having an express facial done in some random counter in a shopping mall.

For results that even sensitive skins will love: Aster Spring Signature, Empire Shopping Gallery

Granted, Dermalogica isn’t exactly a fancy brand with gilded packaging, but when you need to address a specific skin concern, it does the job extremely well. Fragrance-free, colourant-free and ultra-gentle even on sensitive skins, the facials offered at Aster Spring Signature help your skin regain its former glory. We like that there’s a Skin Bar for you to play with Dermalogica products without feeling the stress of beauty advisors breathing down your neck.

For the ultimate celebrity-worthy luxe experience: La Mer, Metrojaya Mid Valley
The Spa Experience_Metrojaya Malaysia
There’s only one La Mer spa in the whole of Malaysia, and it’s in Metrojaya Mid Valley. Who can forget the celebrity appeal of La Mer? Tinseltown’s elite like Jessica Alba, Blake Lively and J Lo use it, although apparently J Lo uses it on her body (just because she can). Check yourself into a beautiful (albeit rather clinical) treatment cabin with an aquarium that casts a hint of the ocean around the room. If your skin has been looking a little worse for wear, it will definitely drink in the goodness that is La Mer’s Miracle Broth, the secret ingredient created by Max Huber to treat all sorts of skin concerns. It’s not your usual monthly facial, but everyone deserves a royal treat once in a while.
